Vintage Art Deco Round Diamond Brooch Bar Pin in Platinum

The Art Deco period was known for its use of geometric shapes combined with elegant filigree forms, milgrain beaded edges, platinum and exquisite diamond’s. This brooch embodies all of these qualities. The 1920s bar pin exhibits at its center a vibrant round brilliant cut natural diamond weighing approximately 1.00 carat with a color grade of I and clarity grade of I2 as this diamond was added at a later date. It is bead set and surrounded by an octagonal geometric shape with milgrain edges and openwork detail. Flanking each side of the center diamond are 3 European cut diamonds which are bead set in their own stations followed by a filigree embellishment carved into the platinum. Each end of the brooch displays a diamond shape with European diamonds encrusted. There are 8 European diamond’s graded H-I in color and SI1-SI2 in clarity with a total weight of about .50 carats bringing the total diamond weight of the brooch to 1.50 carats. The piece is made of platinum yet the pin is made of a base metal. The brooch weighs 7.2 grams and measures 2 3/4” in length and 3/8” in width at the center. It's in excellent condition.
